Joy's Q & A

What is inemmo?

"Inemmo" is that personal velocity within all of us. It is our drive, our determination, and our magnetism towards success. We all have dreams and goals, and inemmo is the force that pushes us to achieve them.

What inspired you to become a Momentum Life and Career Coach?

Life Coaching is my passion. I have worked in the UK and overseas with some of the world's leading organisations including, Cable & Wireless, The 3M Company, The Sony Corporation, Credit Lyonnais & The Royal Bank of Scotland. With over 15 years of corporate management experience behind me, I understand many of the challenges facing businesses as they attempt to improve company results by developing the leadership performance of their young stars. I have also seen many talented colleagues burn out before they have achieved their true potential. How much more gratifying to see people find the path that gets them where they want to be. What inspires me? Influencing true personal growth through individual change.

How did you become qualified to be a Momentum Career and Life Coach?

Life Coaching is a gift. All my life I've had a knack for pinpointing the roots of problems; not the superficial stuff, but the underlying causes of depression, anxiety, and a failure to succeed. Still, I went through years of training on a personal & professional level before I would call myself a Momentum Coach.

I have trained with a number of world renowned organisations in the UK and the US. Most notable amongst these are Coach Training Alliance, Anthony Robbins, Tad James Co., Psychology of Vision and Sedona Training Associates.

What's the difference between Career Coaching and Life Coaching?

In the end links can often be made between the two. Some clients come to me for Career Coaching and the journey to success and fulfilment may take us into other areas of their lives and that's okay. With Career Coaching we focus specifically on my client's career aspirations. They may have been recently promoted and finding it hard to adapt to the change; they may be working on gaining a promotion, wanting to earn more money, considering changing roles, starting a new business or career. A client could be finding it difficult getting a handle on all the emotions which come up for them whilst working through a redundancy situation or business closure even if they are the ones making the decisions. Life Coaching on the other hand encompasses the whole. We take a more holistic approach to helping clients gain clarity around the key issues that hold them back. It's personal, professional, health-related, spiritual and the list goes on. Some fears and phobias go all the way back to childhood, others are more recent. We deal with whatever issues come up as they come up, and always with the client in the driving seat. For comprehensive advice and information on redundancy, a very good not-for-profit site is www.redundancyexpert.co.uk.

Who seeks out your Life or Career Coaching Services?

My clients vary. Some are:

- Seeking promotion or career development
- In need of a confidence boost following redundancy/lay-off
- Considering a change in career direction
- Considering self-employment
- Wanting to address current work-place issues or challenges

  OR SIMPLY

- Gain clear insight, sustained growth, prosperity & excellence in their work and personal lives

Why do you call it "Momentum Coaching?"

If we want to be better at who we are or what we do then we must be prepared to rethink our approach. Sustained growth must be our goal. Malcolm Gladwell suggests that if we truly wish to shine we should spend 10,000 hrs honing our skills. Like the great athletes of our world we may be talented in our own right but without creating the right environment and honing our skills through dedication and determination, we will remain just that. Talented individuals full of promise.

That's why I call what I do "Momentum Coaching". It's not about starting out on the road and stopping at the first sign of heavy clouds or even the first drop of rain. Those of us, who do stop, do so because we choose to project into the future and come up with a lot of excuses as to why that journey is impossible. We try to convince ourselves that it's okay to give up instead of pushing through, and that we have good reason to. In reality, we are fooling ourselves by making up excuses, often because we are scared - scared of true success.

Do you believe we fear success?

Yes, I do believe that we often fear success. Success brings with it change, something foreign and unknown, and that can be scary. Even if you are unhappy with your current path, it is familiar. Taking the path into the unknown requires that you take a risk. That's not always an easy decision even when you know it will lead to something much greater. Inemmo Momentum Career and Life Coaching for me is about helping people get on that road, helping them to keep going when it would be easier to stop, helping them to believe that there is a bright and brilliant light at the end of the tunnel even if they can't always see it. Life Coaching is about believing in clients when they have not the strength to believe in themselves.
